A good look around will reveal the variety of materials that surrounds us
wherever we turn, in part noble-precious stones, silver and gold. In part
valuable and necessary and then – some are useless. Among the latter, are all
materials and elements that terminated their purpose, their reason of
existence and thus became worthless objects' almost transparent, scrap. We
look at them and see the best raw materials for our design.
At this stage we collect mostly metal items, especially beverages and caps
different places and cultures. We select them and handle them with care.,
delicately polishing them from the dust of the road, molding them to create as
unique pieces of jewelry-as precious metals.
The work with these materials fulfill their vast potential, revealing layers and
exposing emotions, some of them attached to their previous role in their
"past life". All pieces evoke a new fresh and exciting experience.
Yoav Kotik, the designer of "Precious metal" jewelry line, is a graduate of
the "Bezalel academy of art and design" in Jerusalem.
Yoav is a member of the Zik group (www.zikgroup.com). He frequently leads
Master classes in the field of sculpture and design in recycled materials in
academic institutes such as the "Shenkar academy of design" the "Bezalel
academy" and the "Wizo academy". His works were presented in galleries
across Israel, the UK, the Netherland and Japan.
